Tuscaloosa, AL –  The second round at NorthRiver Yacht Club of the 2023 AGA Women’s Amateur Championship was a rain-out with several inches of constant rain eventually making the course unplayable. Puddling on both the greens and fairways along with afternoon showers expected to continue gave no opportunity to complete today’s round. Tournament officials held off on making the final call until early afternoon with conditions worsening and rain and lightning in the forecast, it became apparent that there was only one option since only one group had made the turn and several groups were only starting their first hole. There was too much golf to make up to continue the second round on Wednesday.

The event will be reduced to 36 holes with players being repaired for the second and final round based on scores from the first round. The weather forecast for tomorrow’s final round looks favorable and should be a race for the finish. The Championship and Senior divisions will still earn WAGR points for the shortened tournament. Special thanks to NorthRiver Yacht Club’s Golf Course Superintendent Matt Devine and his crew to get the golf course ready for tomorrow’s final round on Wednesday.
