In the Championship Division, three past US Women’s Mid-Am Champions played toe-to-toe during the final round, all posting under-par rounds. The competition was so close they played two extra holes to crown the champion. Ultimately, Kelsey Chugg triumphed with an impressive final round of 2 under (69) to Julia Potter-Bobb and three-time champion Lauren Greenlief. All three players made par on the first extra hole, but Chugg’s par on the second hole proved enough to bring home the title. The tournament was a true test of skill and determination, showcasing the best of amateur golf. The sun was out, the breezes were low, and so were the scores, as five ladies in the Championship Division fired under par scores.
Local resident and esteemed past Member Sales Rep for the Bay Club, Tara Joy-Connelly, has triumphed in the Senior Division of the AGA Women’s Amateur. Her deep-rooted local knowledge and exceptional play led to a winning combination. Joy-Connelly concluded the tournament at plus one, outshining a star-filled field. Despite the best efforts of three past USGA Champions, they could not make any headway. Ellen Port finished second ten shots behind the champion in second, with Laura Tennant in 3rd and Kathy Hartwiger in 4th.
Next year’s championship will head to the great state of Wisconsin to challenge The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha.
