Bill is a managing partner of a law firm in Tennessee and is the secretary and treasurer of the Amateur Golf Alliance. He earned his BS and JD from Wake Forest University where he also played on the 1974 and 1975 National Championship teams and was the individual champion of the Duke Intercollegiate.
After playing at Wake Forest, Bill has had numerous notable accomplishments in the amateur game. He has won the Tennessee State Amateur, Tennessee State Open, Tennessee State Match Play, and three times won the East Tennessee Amateur. He has played in numerous USGA Championships and was a qualifying medalist on eight separate occasions. Bill was named Tennessee Amateur Player of the Year in 1979 and 1981 and was selected to play in the Tennessee Cup Matches 16 times, including Captaining the team in 2000.
In addition to his accomplishments on the course, Bill served on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Golf Association from 1979-2005, including a term as President in 1990-1992. Bill also served on the USGA Mid-Amateur Committee from its inception in 1981 until 1987. With his background as a player and serving the game at the committee level, he is an asset to the AGA Executive Committee.
