Marvin “Vinny” Giles

Vinny is one of the most accomplished amateur golfers in American history and past Owner and President of Pros Inc., a golf management firm that represented some of the game’s top professionals for over 30 years. He was a three-time NCAA All-American at the University of Georgia and later earned a law degree from the University of Virginia Law School.
Vinny has won numerous championships, most notably the 1972 US Amateur Championship, the 1975 British Amateur Championship, and the 2009 US Senior Amateur Championship. He is the only player to have won the US Amateur, British Amateur, and US Senior Amateur. In international competition, Vinny represented the United States as a player in the Walker Cup four times (1969, 1971, 1973, and 1975), in the Eisenhower Trophy (World Amateur Team Championship) three times (1968, 1970, and 1972), and in the Concession Cup two times (2014, 2016). He has served as captain for the United States teams in the 1993 Walker Cup, 1992 Eisenhower Trophy, and as a playing captain in the 2014 and 2016 Concession Cups.
Vinny has also had strong showings in professional majors. He played in nine Masters Tournaments, making the cut three times and finishing as low amateur in 1968. He played in two US Opens, making the cut both times and finishing as low amateur in 1973. He has also finished as low amateur in three US Senior Opens (1993, 1996, and 1997).
In addition to his great accomplishments as a player, Vinny has served on the Executive Committee of the Virginia State Golf Association for over 20 years and as a Director for the Southern Golf Association. He also was one of the original visionaries to build Kinloch Golf Club in his home of Richmond and acted as a course design consultant in the design collaboration with Lester George.
